Anacortes WA

The farthest west city in Skagit County, Anacortes Washington on Fidalgo Island,  is surrounded on three sides by water - with Fidalgo Bay, Guemes Channel, Rosario Strait and Burrows Bay. It is linked to many marine facilities and industries, in addition to two major oil refineries. Waterfront properties, historic homes, condominiums, downtown locations and commercial sites are all available. Island Hospital serves the majority of western Skagit County residents, along with other necessary convenience services.

Visitors enjoy outstanding restaurants, galleries, shops, theatre, golfing, museums and a marina. Access to several lakes and a popular viewpoint at the top of Mount Erie are also enticing, as well as the Swinomish Casino and Lodge, which includes a variety of activities. A large portion of Anacortes is dedicated to recreation or wildlife, with trails through forests, parks and along salt water and fresh water shorelines. The Anacortes Arts Festival, held annually in August, is one of the largest in the Northwest. The abundance of waterfront beckons to all ages, from toddlers to retirees, with several events held at the Cap Sante Marina and the Port of Anacortes. The Anacortes ferry terminal connects Skagit County to the San Juan Islands and Sidney, B.C.
